WHEELS AND BRAKES – Development of wheels and brakes for landing gears of small and medium-sized aircraft

Jun 7, 2021

PROJECT TITLE:

Development of wheels and brakes for landing gears of small and medium-sized aircraft

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The aim of the project is to develop new wheels and brakes for chassis of small and medium-sized aircraft up to a maximum of 25 passengers and a weight of up to 7.5 tons. This is especially the 3-point type of chassis with brakes of the main chassis. Prototypes of the main chassis will be developed, as well as prototypes of the brake for the wheels. Prototypes will be created for representatives of aircraft weighing about 4.5 tons with a landing speed of about 235 km / h, braking from about 195 km / h, braking energy of about 5.6 MJ. The brakes are hydraulically operated. Wheels will be solved with wheels, seals and bearings. The problem of signaling the thermal load of the wheels by means of fast temperature sensors is solved. Optimization of wheel and brake designs will also be solved in terms of heat dissipation from friction pair to both the brake and the wheels. Highly resistant brake lining will be developed to increase reliability.
