The objective of this concept is to advance knowledge and develop tools and solutions in the field of VTOL aerial vehicles, enabling VZLU AEROSPACE’s future active involvement in the UAM sector. R&D activities include design methodologies, zero-emission propulsion systems, control systems enabling autonomous flight, and thermoplastic composite technologies that allow for efficient and environmentally friendly manufacturing of aircraft components for this and higher aircraft categories.
In this area, VZLU AEROSPACE has set the following four goals for the upcoming five-year period (2023 – 2027), which are expected to result in specific technical solutions:
Sub-goals:
- Development of a concept for an environmentally friendly unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform with vertical take-off and landing capabilities (eVTOL)
- Design of a low-emission and low-noise propulsion system for a high-capacity UAV eVTOL
- Development of an autonomous flight and landing control system using artificial intelligence elements
- Research into advanced thermoplastic composites dedicated to aerial vehicles
