Centrifugal compressor for H80 turboprop engine
Objective of this project is research and develop a new centrifugal stage for H80 turboprop engine’s compressor with the objective to improve further the engine performances and increase the life of the compressor. Recent GEAC internal studies demonstrate the possibility to gain more than 3.1 % in adiabatic efficiency of the stage. It means a reduction of the fuel consumption up to of 2.6%, an improvement of the specific fuel consumption (SFC) of 9,9 g/kW/h and decrease the inter turbine temperature of 29 °C. The higher efficiency and the consequent lower temperatures in the hot gas parts consent to extend significantly the time between overhaul reducing the maintenance cost of the engine and creating a market competitive advantage as well as greenhouse gasses emission reduction
