Design and Realization of equipped engine compartments including cowling for a fast compound rotorcraft (DREAM)
The project is focused on the development and production of composite hybrid structure of the engine and rotor cowling for high-speed helicopter Airbus Helicopters based on the previous helicopter demonstrator X3 according to CS29 regulation rules. The project will deliver the composite cowling ready for ground and flight tests of the prototype.
The project is led by the Polish research institute ILOT based in Warsaw. An important role in the project is played by the Czech manufacturer of aircraft composite parts, LA Composite based in Prague. The DREAM is a European project of the joint technology initiative JTI Clean Sky 2.
VZLU will be involved in design, strength calculations and impact damage simulations. In addition, equivalent tests of the selected material and bird-strike tests will be performed. Geometric models of all fixtures (tools) will also be developed as part of VZLU’s activities.
