KOMORA – Design of H80 turboprop engine innovative radial compressor

Jun 7, 2021

PROJECT TITLE:

Increase of the H series turboprop engine’s product qualities by optimization of combustion chamber for increased combustion efficiency and life

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Goals of the project are decreasing of the specific fuel consumption and extension of current life limits of the combustor components, eventually reduction of number of components. Target is to decrease manufacturing costs by 15% and operational costs of the engine by 40%. Decreasing of the specific fuel consumption will be reached by decreasing of the combustor total pressure loss, mainly by optimization of combustor inlet flow and by increasing of combustion efficiency. Increasing of combustion efficiency will also reduce amount of unburned fuel in the exhaust gas, mainly carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) and soot. Target is to decrease these species by factor of 3. In the same time, nitric oxide (NOx) emissions shall be kept same or lower.
