AStRA – Advanced Composite Structure for Perspective Regional Aircraft

Jun 7, 2021

PROJECT TITLE:

Advanced Composite Structure for Perspective Regional Aircraft

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project aims to increase efficiency of regional aircrafts by weight reduction, aerodynamic efficiency and operational reliability increase. This goal will be achieved by using new aerodynamic wing concept, use of composite materials to the primary design and new design procedures for regional aircraft. In improving the aircraft aerodynamics characteristics the project will aim on new wing concept with high stiffness reinforced with struts. Composite material will be used only where their benefits will be justified by weight savings or increased aerodynamic efficiency at acceptable cost. New design procedures will be based on a multilevel approach which is based on the parallel optimization of aerodynamic and structural properties of the aircraft. Part of the structural design of the aircraft is also the application of the latest design approaches for composite structures.
