Satellite SATurnin-1, which serves the defense and security of the Czech Republic, has been awarded the Visionary of the Year 2025. The jury particularly appreciated:
🥇 The title Visionary of 2025 for technological, economical and social contribution of the SATurnin-1, the Czech satellite responsible for capturing images of the planet and focused on data support for defense, security, and environmental applications. 🛰️
“The Visionary of the Year award is proof that the Czech Republic can develop and implement advanced space technologies. This award is also a recognition of expertise, commitment and long-term work of the whole team, which worked on the SATurnin-1 project,” states Josef Kašpar, General Director of VZLU AEROSPACE.
The satellite, which was developed with full support from the Ministry of Defense, develops the competencies of the national industry and increases the independence of the Czech Republic. “The Visionary of 2025 award also confirms the strategic significance of the project, which provides us with a unique domestic source of satellite images, helping to ensure the defense and security of the state,” said Major General Petr Bartovský, Director of Military Intelligence.
The Saturnin-1 satellite was launched into orbit in January 2025 aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter 12 mission.
