THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST FLIGHT OF THE AERO L-39 ALBATROS PROTOTYPE

Ond December 11, 2018 it will be exactly 50 years from the first take-off of the training aircraft prototype which was piloted by VZLU´s chef pilot Rudolf Duchoň. The subsonic training aircraft was developed in the 1960s in Aero Vodochody, the chef engineer was Jan Vlček. Entire flight performance tests, certification tests, life tests, test of equipment and systems was held in VZLU. A total of 11 aircraft prototypes was created. It was registered into the Czechoslovak Air force service on March 28, 1972.

As a part of the 50th first take-off anniversary celebrations will be one of the last flightworthy prototype painted on the rudder. On the right side of the rudder will be pictured VZLU´s test pilot Rudolf Duchoň. Painting is carried out by PAINT SKILLERS, which are specialized in custom airbrush paintings and has experience with works for the Czech Army. The painting will be held on a plane with reg. no. 5019 which is owned by 213nd training squadron in Čáslav.
