Role of VZLU
VZLU applies its aviation experience and several past space projects to work with the European Space Agency (ESA) on joint projects. ESA regularly lists tenders for its planned space missions. Usually larger companies that have a certain specialization in space activities, sign up for the tenders. These companies, if they are selected, become Prime contractor. For their business activity they need to hire many companies for specialized supplies of components, technologies and services.
And this is an opportunity for VZLU to act as a subcontractor, respectively contractor or subcontractor for Prime contractor who is directly responsible to ESA. Although ESA funds are public, their use through tenders has economical character it means that it is not a subsidy. Part of ESA projects, VZLU implement in a cooperation with its subsidiaries and other external partners which includes research organizations, universities or SME´s.
