Calculations and numerical simulation tools for internal flow in blade machines

R&D in the field of calculations and simulations:

  • Calculation and simulation of flow in blade machines (gas and steam turbines), utilization of the latest models of boundary layer transitions  (RANS, URANS)  a models of LES flow
  • Numerical simulation of flow in radial turbine blade cascades
  • Development of software tools for compressible flow in vane blade cascades (especially for power units of lower output)
  • Numerical simulation of multistage blade machines using CFD tools (mixing plane, sliding mesh)
  • Flow analyses of blade machines in the frequency domain (harmonic balance method)
  • Development of software tools for 3D design of turbine blades
  • Development of optimization  software for turbine flow
  • Development of software for stationary turbulent flow in the axial turbine stage


Equipment:

  • Wide platform of OpenFOAM-based solvers, including development of in-house solvers designed to address flow in a wide range of speeds (AUSM + upDyMFoam) and reactive flow (MRSTsFoam)
  • Software for aerodynamic design of the radial compressor impeller - VKK-VZLU
  • ATS-MXP software for static turbulent flow calculation in an axial turbine stage
