Unsteady Flow of an Axial-Flow Turbine Stage Investigation
Project objectives

The goal of the presented project is to increase the turbomachinery efficiency through the flow-path optimization. The optimization will be based on accurate measurement of the unsteady flow fields using a new experimental facility simulating turbine stag.

VZLU´s task in this project

VZLU is the chief designer and coordinator of this national project of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The main objective of the project is building up an experimental turbine stand to measure unstationary flow in the turbine axial stage. The VZLU high-speed circulation wind tunnel should incorporate the stand to enhance its capacity for research on turbines and compressors.
The main VZLU´s task is to establish methodology of unstationary flow measurement, design and manufacture of probes with built-in pressure pick-ups – quick response probes, which are necessary for this kind of testing. In the last year of the project, all the items developed will be put together to make a realistic assembly and conduct measurement on a model of the turbine stage.
